Trends to Watch

New fashion trends (or even trend comebacks) always get me so so excited to try some new looks and explore the styles. This season, we're seeing the revamp of the utilitarian style that was popular back in the 1990s and early 2000s and I cannot get enough of it! While writing this post I was looking into the origins of this style and it turns out utilitarian had a major moment during the 1970s as second-wave feminism was in full swing and the U.S. Senate approved the equal rights act! How relevant for International Women's Day!

Something especially exciting about the way we're rocking the trend this time around is we're seeing beige as the hottest color for spring 2019 as well as working minimalism into the mix. This works to soften the structured/buttoned up look to make a well balanced and refined look. It's powerful without being overpowering. There's something about this trend that is giving me total girl-power vibes. Mixing femininity into a military inspired look, it just makes sense, right?

As I said, beige is big. So are the other neutrals! Spring is a great time to slap on some more muted colors around all the greens of the new leaves :) All I can picture is some golden hour light on a niceeee cream suit.. love it. It's a perfect warm up to the usual bold and bright colors in summer. Check out some runway shots that kill it and start shopping for your next spring looks!
