My workout routine

Happy New Year everyone! 2019 I am sure you are hearing everyone around you talk about how 'THIS IS THE YEAR'!

With the holiday season ending and resolutions on our minds, I wanted to share some of my all time favorite workouts that Cole and I love to do. It has taken me a lot of trial and error with different routines, classes, and gym days to find the best workout for me but I've finally stumbled into something that leaves me feeling stronger, energized, and that is actually a lot of fun! Don't be discouraged if you haven't settled on a plan that works because it takes TIME but I promise you that you'll learn so much about your body and what you need through the process. Never give up! 


To start off-- I absolutely love the workouts created by Kayla Itsines and EFFORTLYSS, they are both so good for toning up and trimming down. The scheduled workout plans are great and if I'm feeling uninspired or dreading a workout, the planned out days keeps me on task and motivated to keep going. I would definitely recommend following the plans for at least two weeks if you're just starting out because they're structured to slowly guide your body into the pattern of exercising and eating right. The perfect kickstart!

Once I got more familiar with the workouts and patterns of these plans, I decided to take creative control (you know me) and puzzle-piece together a personalized plan that had my favorite moves scattered into a schedule with cardio, HIIT (high intensity interval training), and strength training. Making it my own, listening to my body, making it something I enjoy, it has all helped to make me stop dreading the gym!



This is what works for me, it's different for everyone! It's so important to remember to take breaks, let your body recover, and don't be too hard on yourself! If you miss a gym day, that's 100% OK! If you're not feeling up to it, decrease the time of the workout or stay home and read. Listen to your body and be nice to yourself, change takes time :)

I am not the stick skinny girl that can eat whatever she wants, I have an athletic build and I bulk up really quickly. The biggest thing to remember is to love and appreciate your body and it will love you back. Even when you gain a few pounds or feel sluggish, thank your body for being healthy enough to get you around and take you places, thank your body for being strong, this sounds crazy I know and you may not be into it, but go with me, try it for a week and see if you feel any different.

Having a workout buddy always helps. Find a friend you can go with, a boyfriend girlfriend, husband, someone to hold you accountable. Even if you can't go with them every day, check in on each other and make sure you're both staying strong.

Hope this helps you guys get exctied about working out again, trust me, I need the motivation too.

  1. We happen to meet a great people there and started to chat with them and drink w/them too. I had a great time here, glad we found this event space by accident. Will definitely come to this place again as anyone will make this a regular spot easily.

  2. Nice and simple! Are dumbbells not considered to be equipment these days? It's not something that we typically see anywhere except in a gym.
