Paradise in Portugal

The unexpected, the spontaneous, the moments that seem to feel like magic are the moments of life that keep me going. If you ever have the opportunity to make a rash decision that is just for the fun of it, I recommend that you DO IT! Life is far too short to worry about planning every moment to try and be too perfect, too organized... Because what happens to the moments of life you hoped would always exist that one day disappear, unexpected and unplanned and you are left with the exact opposite of what you thought your life would be. Take advantage of being happy, live life, do things, fall in love, talk to people, smile, break the rules.

I have had a fare share of things in my life that didn't go as planned but I can tell you this, the second I let go of holding on to my disappointment life seemed to push me in a new and unexpected direction that in fact just might have been better for me.

That was a deep few sentences to go along with this blog post, but I have to tell you, Cole and I booked a trip to Portugal 3 days before leaving, we had no plans, no itinerary, and to explain it as magical would be an understatement. We are lucky to travel for our jobs and even on top of that get to do it together. But, what you don't always see is the stress of finding locations, thinking of the next best shot, not sleeping from trying to stay up and edit, keeping up with emails back at home and campaigns that are up and coming, working on our future projects for our brand. All that to say we love what we do and feel lucky and happy to work every day. For this trip we decided we would treat it like an actual vacation, and it was.

We rented a car and drove from city to city, coast to coast, exploring, stumbling into little shops, finding hidden beaches, making new friends, trying unexpected cuisine, it was a trip I will never forget.

This dress is one I have been dreaming of for a long time. If you are aware of the designer Zimmerman you know how delicate and perfect each garment they craft is. I have been saving for this one for a long time. I have a few pieces in my closet that I claim as part of my collection. They will be there forever and I will wear them for years and hopefully one day pass them on to my daughter. They are timeless they are art and they represent my love for a facet of fashion that I think needs to be remembered. I don't know if there is anyone who could try this dress on and not feel like they have come to life. From the pleated crepe like fabric to the mix of prints and cuts it is my dream dress.

I hope to write a fleshed out blogpost about Portugal and all the places we got to see and the ones we didn't have time to soon!
In the mean time I hope you enjoy these.

  4. So glad to hear that the trip was so fantastic!!! My husband and I generally plan our trips really last minute too and I swear those trips are always the best. I think it's because you don't have time to be disappointed - like, we don't have a ton of time to research a bunch or figure out all these infamous spots or tourist attractions so we don't feel stressed like we have to see them all. And then instead we find all these hidden gems that other people don't have time to see because they were doing the "top 10 things to see in XX".

That said, a few months ago we actually booked a trip to Portugal for the end of June. We will be there for a week, roadtripping through the country. We have only just barely started doing any research but I would LOVE to know where you went, any route you would recommend, and anything we absolutely should not miss!

  6. Such an amazing message you’ve written here Tezza. I read something similar the other day about slowing down in our day to day and I think this goes hand in hand with what you have written today.

You and your husband continue to be such an inspiration to me and my husband! Thank you for being such an awesome light in this world!
