Alright alright alright, I will spare you most of the sappy details, but come on, I am engaged, it only happens once, it's mind blowing, and I have to be a little bit cheesy. . .
To start if off, I met my ever so handsome finance, Cole, 23 years ago while chillin' in diapers, my mom threw his baby shower for heaven's sakes. You always hear people say it's so much better to date someone you were friends with first right? Didn't know if I really believed that until it happened to me.
So skip ahead 21 years and somehow we ended up going out, then boom 2 years later, I am getting married... never thought that would happen! I always considered myself the independent type, you know, you grow up with some girls who dream of their wedding and others who say "I don't want to get married till I am 30"... that was me. And if there is one thing I can tell you, the second I realized there wasn't one thing in my life that would be better without him in it, I knew I was ready.
So skip ahead to new years eve..
He had a concert and then a few of our friends met up at a party. He insisted that we leave at midnight, tho I was a bit confused I went along with it. We drove off and out he pulled a little tourist NYC book. (fyi, we both LOVE New York, it's our jam).
I am reading through as he had posted sticky notes through out the book about some of our favorite memories around that city, in the back of the book there was a map... Out I pulled... ' PACK YOUR BAGS, TOMORROW 9:40 AM, NYC, HERE WE COME!'
I was flipping out, screaming a bunch of nonsense as I ran home to pack.
Now... call me an idiot, I am usually pretty intuitive and catch on to things, but somehow I didn't really think he was going to propose on this trip. I know I know....
We land and the fun begins. He had plans to eat at all the best places, and see some of my favorite things, shop around... all the goods.
Right as the sun was going down that night, we were in Chelsea, roaming my favorite streets. You know when you're in a big city and there are people everywhere, but somehow you don't even realize because you are so in your moment? Well that happened except for it was actually real, magically, no one was around. Christmas lights were lining the streets as we strolled down the middle of the street.
I will spare the details here, but my man got on one knee and asked me to marry him! I don't think I even looked at the ring for the first 20 minutes. I was skipping, screaming and crying... even fell down to on my knees before he had time to stand up! ( I am crazy )
Obviously I said... I will think about it.. haha jk jk, of course I said YES.
The rest of the trip was one GIANT celebration. I couldn't have asked for anything more perfect.
Especially my man.
